GIS.XL – spatial data in Excel

Published on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 by Milos Gregor

As hydrogeologist I often work with spatial data. These data are frequently stored in Excel files. In fact, it was only a matter of time, when I will need a tool for direct spatial data processing and visualization in Excel.

At work, I use Excel as relatively good and easy to use tool for data storing and processing. But oftentimes I face its limitations. Since I have not found another solution that would meet my needs, I gradually created a stand-alone solution. This solution was updated step by step and finally meets all my needs that I expected. Now I release it publicly under the name GIS.XL.

GIS.XL is compact Excel add-in that is designed for spatial data processing and visualizations. Its installation is very simple and user interface is structured logically. With this add-in you can create maps in Excel from your spreadsheets and you can combine powerful features of GIS and Excel inside one window. The fundamental character and features of add-in are displayed in the following intro video.

Installation file and all information about this add-in you can find on http://gisxl.com.
